Just thought I'd kick this off by saying hello to all you wonderful pixel peeps out there.

I live in Woodland Hills, California, USA (Los Angeles county) with my girl friend and I've worked as a software developer for the past five years. Before that I lived in Oregon, Maine, Georgia, Wyoming and Michigan and I have fond memories of each place.

I'm older than a lot of pixel pushers out there me thinks, but I've only been pixel pushing the last year or so.  I started the Pixel Joint because I thought it would be cool to have a pixel art only gallery site.  It's only been a few months since we started taking in submissions and I think it's been going great.  There's so many talented pixel artists out there and I'm always excited when I see a new piece come in.

I guess that's it. I hope you all enjoy the Pixel Joint community and have a good time getting to know other pixel artists.

Creeeeepy

I just love this pic... it's so frickin' creepy.

Hi,

My name is Kel and I'm a huge pixel art fan. I didn't have a computer until two years ago but I've always been a videogame freak and I used to draw the Nintendo and Sega characters on pause.  Metroid, Megaman, Mario and Sonic were a few of my favorite subjects.

I studied art history in college and I was looking for an art project to help with and Pixel Joint just kind of fell in my lap. Good news for you people.

I love swimming, softball, peanutbutter and Al Pacino movies.  My favorite videogames of all time are Rampart (trackball arcade game), Megaman games, Street Fighter 2, Chrono Trigger and Super Mario Brothers 3.

Bye

Hello all,
My name is Brian (you probably already guessed) and I live in the Netherlands. That's in western-Europe, I made a crappy map to show.

Yeah, that's a pretty accurate guess.

Anyway, I started Pixelart because I got in the amateur-games-community. I really enjoy making games and all the stuff around it. I'm also going to a special school for making games in Hilversum, about Game Design And Development. "When I grow up, I'm going to make games."

Me just being 15 makes me feel a bit too young. Oh well. Here's a photo.

That's probably how I'm sitting right now. I always sit like that.
Well, that's about it. Oh wait, I have something left to say.
Things I like: Super Mario, my computer, GTA, Age Of Mythology (although I always lose in multiplayer), Saria's Song, this music, retro and my GameCube.
Things I hate: Microsoft, Xbox, Halo, Halo 2, additions of the Sims, mobile phones, pop-ups, etc.
Im not crazy, I'm a bit eccentric (if that is how you write it, word told me)

That sums it up. Bye, of like we say it in Holland: Doei.

Nice meeting you all!

My name is Ivan. I'm 16 years old and studying my final year of high school in Australia.

Ive been involved in game making since I was eleven, and I really started to get into pixelling over the last two years or so. I'm also an active member at Klik based game making website,

the Daily Click ( www.create-games.com ).

My only ever employment has been selling some of my paintings (WHAT A BARGAIN, I THINK WE SHOULD ALL BUY THEM!) and selling my comic book at school (which is illegal). Check out my comic here, if you havent already: www.jonnycomics.com/blackhole

Im interested in getting into the animation business when I leave. But I no practical idea how Id do this. I also play the piano, listening to music and enjoy writing songs (and singing...poorly).

In true animating fashion I decided to make a montage of ME for YOU:

I really like Pixel Joint's unique interface and friendly community. I especially like that Sedge will comment positively on ANYTHING! Well done mate!

UPDATE!: Oooh, almost forgot! My favourite tv shows are: The Office, Spaced, 15 Stories High, Frontline, OLDER Simpsons, Seinfeld, Mission Hill and others I cant think of right now. I like movies aswell, but it would be even harder for me to compose a list of favourites. I've also done a bit of radio play writing myself. AND I enjoy doing impressions. Ahem.

And here's my David Brent impression:

EDIT2!: Hah, I just realised Im posing in almost the exact some angle as Sedge. WE COULD BE BROTHERS, EVEN!

Hey, my name is Wouter. I'm 14 years old, and I live in the Netherlands too.
I like computers, Nintendo, pixel art, and making games (check them out on http://www.exxo.nl). Umm, yeah, I think that's all.
I can't post a picture of myself, since I don't have any on my computer.

the_keller:  You left off your crazy obsession with MAME. You never shut up about crappy arcade games from 1981.

Brian the Great: Thx for the map. I always assumed The Netherlands was down by Mexico.  Seriously... a pixel map would be a neat project someday. Halo was a bust for me too. The PC has about a zillion better First Person Shooters but everyone seems to think Halo is the end all.

iSTVAN: Nice David Brent.   I too am a huge OLDER Simpsons fan. How dare you peddle comics in school.  I shall alert the local authorities immediately.

Blueberry_pie: 29 games. Impressive.

Crap I'm feeling old... I'll be 29 this year :( blah

anyways.. I posted this in another thread somewhere before noticing a thread had already been started.. I'm a retard but here's what I wrote:

Congrats to getting the forum up and running. We can all finally get to know eachother beyond our submissions and handles.

It's great to have a new home for pixellists and I can safely say that I will be posting my works here as long as pixelart intrigues me.

That aside, I think we should all perhpas introduce ourselves to the community and tell our lil pixel story in brief.

Me:

I'm from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Been pixelling for about 2 years now and posting that and other forms of digital art on DeviantArt for over 3 I think.

Pixelart has become a great obssesion for me because of it's crisp and clean styles as well and the animation styles you can do with it.

I plan to continue posting new icons - desktop and otherwise - as well as screensavers, wallpapers, and in the future maybe some games and short movies

I'd like to officially welcome everyone to PixelJoint and it's new forum and I look forward to seeing it's growth.

How's that for a speech? :) Keep on pixelling... biatches!

Hey, I'm Dejital, 14 years old. I was born in Russia and was drawing since birth. For some reason, I am an unusually good artist for my age and I usually end up being called the "new art genius" each time I switch schools. The truth is, I hate drawing.

I've been gaming for a while, had a Dendy (a Russian Famicom) and played Mario on that. When I came to the USA, the first game I played was Banjo Kazooie (or whatever) and hated it... I ended up getting an N64 anyway, and bought Zelda for it. Got hooked right away. I'm still obsessed with Zelda and I like to argue about anything that pertains to Zelda (ie Miyamoto's plan for Zelda, Link's age, timeline, etc)... This usually pisses people off, but I'm fine with that.

I'm obviously into computers, so I'll post my specs.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP1
CPU: AMD Athlon 1.33 GHz
Video: Radeon 9800 Pro
Memory: 1.00 GB

Yes, go ahead and laugh at the CPU. I had no idea such slow systems existed until I checked my specs... You can imagine the feeling in my heart when I saw that "1". I'm only 14, so I don't have a job to fix it up.

I'm devoted to Nintendo, even if I hate everything they come out with nowadays. I like to argue about Nintendo too... but I usually disagree with everything I said after the debate. If somebody's into Nintendo, they're into emulation, and this is true for me. I've got every single NES, SNES, and downloading every N64 ROM ever. A new Video plugin for N64 emulators allow the dumping of textures, and also the modification of textures. This means you can change the way everything looks in the game. I'm trying to get into that...

Hah, I just realised Im posing in almost the exact some angle as Sedge.

You're also posing at the same angle as Paris Hilton in every picture taken of her. Has anyone else noticed how her head is almost always tilted? Does she have neck problems? Is she trying to hide her second mouth in her neck that's used for eating babies?

You do look a bit like me ya poor bastard -- it's tough being such a handsome devil, isn't it?

And yes, I am a comment whore.  The great thing about art is that you can see something redeeming and something that needs improving in just about anything. Seeing a new piece posted is always a big treat for me.

Blick: So you live in the North Pole, you look like a sheep dog, and you've seen the Paris Hilton video. Cool.

Dejital: You and Kel should chat... he screws around with that ROM stuff too.

pixelblink:  Don't feel bad old timer.  Me and Kel are both old foggies too and that Ripped Monkey knob is freaking ancient.

Blick: Comparing Sedge and I to Paris Hilton! If this was my forum, thatd be enough to ban your ass! My sex videos are MUCH more famous than her's!

Sedge: Not wrong!...how old exactly ARE you sedge? You can't be as ancient as you make out! Comments are cool, probably the best thing about PixelJoint! Oooh, and I was watching CLASSIC Simpsons this morning! (episode where the dog needs an operation....aahhhh).

Pixelblink: I look forward to seeing some of your short films and playing your games! I used to program games and stuff, only made one worth playing, but now I just offer my skills as pixel artist doing graphics. I've also got to make a game as my major computers project at school. I may post some stuff on it in a different section. Nice meeting you, grandpa!

Ah my name precedes me. I am the ripped monkey and I have no interest in making pixel art whatsoever. But Ive watched my friend the so-called sedgemonkey turn a million hobbies into websites. I mean the guy is freakin prolific. Who has time? Apparently he does. He says he lives with his girlfriend but i dont ever remember a girl allowing me anytime to myself. Anyways, Im digressing. Its nice to see one of his interests really spark with the little people. Yes, that, kind reader is you. He did a bang up job. And the talent that pixeljoint  is attracting is quite amazing.

If you are still with me and not scanning the next introduction, Im a web developer in or around the los angeles area and am a good friend (i prefer the term brutha) of mr "sedgemonkey". I enjoy mayhem, porn and pissing people off. Especially the keller - hes fun to piss off. I'll betcha hes the next to post....

PS I like trees:

My name is Caspar Raarup and I live in Sweden. I live in a town called Linköping and I am just like Istvan and blueberry_pie a kliker aswell.  Kliking is mainly what got me into pixelart. I'm 19 years old and go to the university of Linköping.

I'm a senior in high school, 17 years old.  I live in Pearland Tx.  My Social security number is 652056231...

I figured I should take a funny pic for my last year in high school. It's fun.  I pretend to like pixelling, though I'm not really good at it.  I love programming, hacking (not maliciously), playing guitar, and other nerdy things.  Oh I like Tenacious D and The Mars Volta.

Nice meeting y'all.

Hey everyone!

Im Jay and I live in the sticks and rocks of Connecticut.  Im 30 years old (Go foggies!) and Ive been pixelling for about 4 years now.  Most of that time has been with indie game developers, and most of THAT time has been spent getting very little done.  So Ive decided to finish my current projects and stop working with others so I can finally get a chance to fully develop my own style.

When Im not pushing pixels, I like to go hiking.  Here is a pic of me on top of Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire:

Huzzah for the foggies!

I know what you mean about cutting down on projects. Just can't find time to pixel when you take on too much.  I'm gonna do the same soon.

My girlfriend has a pal from New Hampshire.  Looks beautiful.

hey whats up!  Just thought id post on here, I just found this place through a link that sedgemonkey had posted on another site.  Looks very kool and friendly here, Ill probly be popping in every now and then and see whats up. :D
Im 16 this March 23rd, and I mostly program and design sites, Ive had a few jobs in the past, but I mainly like to write free scripts and programming.  I've dabbled alil in pixel art, but Im way better at just regular 2D art using Photoshop CS.

Hey iam new to this forum too :-) This is a new forum right? I see no one has been a member passed march 3rd 2005,  I joined because pixelation isnt working :-( ,  Like all the websites Ive been going to lately have all gone down pixelation, emperium.org, xbdev.net, and i forgot the other ones that are down I feel so lonely :-( , anyhow I am a C++ OpenGL Programmer who dabbles in pixel art from time to time I like using MS Paint because its the best program ever made.

lol, greets!  A fellow programmer! Though a different language, it does not matter.  I program in VB, hopefully you arent a hard-core C++ guy and kill VB programmers .  Ive looked into C++ a couple times and have a book or two on it, but Im mainly a VB programmer.  welp, welcome again and hope to talk about programming witcha in the future .

VB doesn't count as a language.  It's weak. Actually, jk, I made a halo hack with it (thirdperson hack).  But I like C++ a lot.  C# is supposed to be a hell of a lot better though.  If you work with VB.net, I applaud you.  Most people like myself can't get away from the ease of VB6.

Huzzah for geek speak programmer chatter!

Demon: Glad to have you on board. I already saw a couple posts of yours.

DrknssCmth: This is a new forum -- it's still being developed.

smellyllobster: You'd be suprised how much easier .NET is once you try it -- Visual Studio .NET  2003 really makes things a snap.
