My silly walk isn't particularly silly; I mean the right leg isn't silly at all and the left leg merely does a forward aerial half-turn every odd-turned step. But with Government backing, I can make it very silly!

Small technicality question: Does it strictly have to be walking? Or can it also include jogging, running, etc?

how could a silly walk EVER be strictly walking?

Hey, I'm asking cuz of technicalities. Like the gateway to hell, it had to be an actual gateway, no conceptual crap. You ask, that's how you learn these things.

It is not supposed to look drunk in the finalized smooth version. I wonder if I will find the time and motivation to get it there :)

I was just being a smart ass.  It has potential.  Animation is time consuming and walk cycles are tough.  Making it look silly...well that's the point where I'm at now.  Too many hours for this, this week.

hehe (ಠ_ಠ ) o_- :p

Google is your friend...

Even the Pixel Joint FAQ is your friend:

You can find a free application to do it here...

Check the Pixel Joint Forum thread on applications for pixel art for the latest and greatest on what other pixel artists are using.

An online free utility is  NOW WITH ANIMATION CAPABILITIES

NOTE: Internet Explorer 6 and below does not have transparency support for PNG-24. Since the vast majority of internet users are using Internet Explorer we suggest you use PNG-8 or GIF if you want to use transparency.

Also most imaging software can do transparency by themselves. It's almost effortless to use transparency and you can google on the subject and get extensive help, so not knowing "how to" is not an acceptable reason on this subject :3

Of all the challenges for me to return and find running. I just came back to submit a walk cycle:

Too bad it's not all that silly. Double bad that it's nearly the end of the week.

I think I might rework it to be sillier later.

Fossey, you're not allowed to simply color reduce and call it an entry.

Hello - I'm new here. :)

He posted that for inspiration, not as a competition entry. "Help for the animation"

Is recreating a silly walk from the actual Monty Python Silly Walks Sketch allowed?

@mambazo - yes, unless you plan on doing something like Fossey .

This will take ages to finish, and I am not sure if I want to put in that time yet.

Funny that I add the suitcase unconsiously because the original shows a suitcase too!

I can not imagine how to smoothen this out yet, why are pixel art animations so hard to edit, if made this way?

And then even worse, I might also have to color it...

Hey everyone, I've been following PJ for a while without joining, but I figured this was a contest that i might have a chance at.

Anyways, here's my WIP. It's not actually very silly, but it was fun:

Hi Ryath, welcome :)

'That is not particulary silly'
I think it is a wonderful animation! How about moving those legs around to make it a silly one?

And I suggest adding a / to the last img tag ( [/img] ) so we can all view it :)

About mine, here is the last update for tonight (yes its 0:00 midnight here)

@Lol - I love it; go finish it. The lunge part of the video is one of my favourite parts.

This is silly for sure.

But actually it is an animation made form my 5 finished frames :p

Some more frames are finished now.. But even if I am able to color them all on time, I would still like to spend a lot of time extra on smoothening things out, and perfecting the palette!
And there are only a few available hours left for me..
