user
I-Joe (Level 1 Thug) @ 4/3/2007 10:59

I really like it, but the sword's blade doesn't fit in... it's to flashy...

4/5 anyway

A superior piece.  Nice Job!

user
SamusLife (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/10/2007 13:36
Looks awesome! The lighting on the gold especially but pretty much everywhere reminds me of the cool artwork throughout the Super Metroid series. Nice work.

user
AndyOaks (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/9/2007 08:27
Fantastic work. The rendering of the gold is especially good.

user
JerryPie (Level 11 Godfather) @ 3/7/2007 21:10
This is breath taking.. The blade looks a bit starnge though. Maybe a few darker shades of blue would make it nicer.

user
CircleOfTheDarkOnes (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 3/6/2007 20:26
the blade looks a little unfinished, but it's still one of the best pixel arts i've seen.

user
mega-human (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/6/2007 19:09
I really love this picture. The only part I find not too belivable is the blood/wound on his stomach. It could probally have a bit more detail but other than that, the picture is extremely well made.

user

Great picture! Looking forward for more!

user
iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 3/6/2007 03:25
This is a very good effort! However, perspective is broken. The wall in the back suggests that we are seeing the scene for a low point of view with strong perspective deformation. The rest of the picture does not support this. For example look how the wall leans to the right, and the left statue is vertical and it's upper parts don't shrink with distance. Same with the throne.

Don't get me wrong, my comment is supposed to help you create an even better piece next time. Technically this is much better than your fist picture, but I liked the lighting of the first one better, because of the mixing colors. I think you will make some great stuff in the near future.

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 3/4/2007 06:21
tomic and smile both make valid, excellent points, but like d-p says, the sword does not match at all. Its like another style and just seems frankensteined.

user
d-p (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 3/4/2007 04:17
Really really great, I like the gold. The blood and the sword dont fit the high quality of the rest of the image.

Looking at the picture some more...

Different sections of the drawing which have about the same tint look pretty much the same. Like, the robe's gray section has the exact same texture and color as the stone from the statues. You could have used a more restrained range of shades on one or the other to set them more appart. Right now, the only thing setting them appart is the cracks on the statue. Other than that, both surfaces are identical.

The best part of your drawing is clearly the glossy, shiny gold statues, its beautiful. the green-ish wall in the background is also very nice, has a great texture to it.
Personally, I would have changed all colors of the pic to have a certain hue to them, as to have some sort of global atmosphere (id prolly have used blue or green), but thats just my tastes here.

Last little thing... Though that the broken, cracked statues evoke that its a very old place, with ancient relics... everything else seems so clean. The robe should be dusty, stained, ripped... there should be webs around, vegetation should be sprouting everywhere, insects, chips in the gold statues, dust, webs, more rubble!... that would make the picture much more interesting and appealing.
I understand it might not be what you were going for at all, but still.

Wicked pic! Very nice work on this.

user
rephisto (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/3/2007 16:06
yes, maybe u are right, but this was what i wanted.

when i draw another one, i can try to mix interesting lightsources, reflections, etc. like as my other work 'red dragon' and antialiasing technique like as this work.

thanks for comment :)

tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 3/3/2007 15:15

really not a bad scene, so dont get this wrong but what bothers me here a lot is your 'color management': every part of the picture consists of more or less the same colors (boring grey for the statue, boring brown for the wall and so on), which separates the these parts from each other - like in a collage

pixeling, especially in demoscene tradition is about 'mixing up' the limited colors.. a good way would be to define a color for the light instead of having white ambient light - with shading from a 'yellow lightsource' for example the statues and the wall would look much more interesting

rephisto (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/3/2007 12:37

user
rephisto (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/3/2007 12:31

wow, this is good...no amazing!

user
Wakka (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/3/2007 11:49
I think it would much better without the sword. Maybe because of that blue-ish blade color. Anyway, superb job :).

user
grave (Level 8 Marshal) @ 3/3/2007 11:38

The blood is from before the skeleton became a skeleton.

Altho the blood shouldnt have highlights if its dried up.

I really love the gold in this. The highligting on it is excelent. And the way the light bounces of the clothes onto the gold looks great to.

Skull (Level 11 CEO) @ 3/3/2007 11:35
How a skeleton bleeds is beyond me.. Superb work, lovely detail.
